this game is utterly insane, exactly how it should be! I love the variety and creativity in the enemies, and the artstyle is how I feel 80's arcade games would look like with current tech, mostly simple but still very attractive to look at. The only complaint I have is that it gave me too many situations where I HAD to take damage, and although this is compensated for with a large health meter, and infinite lives, I takes away from the thrill of dodging things, if you know you have to get hit anyway. but really, I liked this game alot, and hope to see more games like this

Thanks for playing! It was a lot of fun for me to design the enemies and bosses, so it's good to hear they gave you a nice sense of variety. Props again to the pixel artist, totally nailed the aesthetic we were going for.

Good feedback on the difficulty level though. I think I may have overdone it just a little bit in some sections (i.e. level #3), which isn't really "difficulty" it's just unavoidable damage. I think in my game, dodging turned more like a side effect to my design choices, rather than the intended goal. if I developed another scrolling shooter, I would be a lot more conscious of pacing and difficulty, and really emphasize elements of dodging as core gameplay. Perhaps enemies with more predictable firing patterns would have been a better way to emphasize that.

Glad you had fun playing, and thanks for the review :)

THESE ARE THE FLASH GAMES THAT THE INTERNET NEEDS

This is actually a great concept in my opinion, and I think you shouldn't put away the idea of a sequel, because there is certainly more that could be done with this.

Thats not to say that its bad as it is, in fact I got what I wanted out of it. The pacing was spot on, the powerups were all equally handy, and it was definitely exhilarating when you were close to death.

The only bad points about it were:

-1pt) It was difficult to line up your character with the gaps in the walls unless you held two directions at once. While that in itself isn't so bad if you get used to it, most people don't think like that when moving a character, and usually prefer to only hit one key at a time. You could fix this by making the character stick to a grid that matches the blocks when he stops, which is how pac man did it so successfully.

-.5pt) I like to reserve my final half a point for games that completely blow me away. I'm sorry while I did like it, it didn't blow me away.

This game is AWESOME! I'm so glad that somebody realized that 8bit graphics aren't the only way to reference old games. This reminds me SO MUCH of old games I used to play on Windows 95. It was really fun, the bad guys were all interesting and unique, with their different abilities and stuff. I can't say enough about this game, it was incredible

Thank you very much!!! Old games from the early/mid 80's had to rely on great GAMEPLAY in order to make up for the small boxy graphics. Gameplay will always be my primary focus on games! :)

Make sure to try playing 1P vs. 2P with a friend and try the Secrets/Cheats out. It is really fun to control a Machine character like Macer and just run over your friends Bots!

I usually HATE IT when ppl use pixel art with pixels 2-3 times the size of an actual pixel, but this game balanced it out with some antialiased graphics here and there, also, it was insane and even tho I don't think I understood any of the jokes, I found the things that the pop up guy said to be pretty damn funny. I definitely don't regret playing this, good job

3.5 for the incredible graphics, everything was fine up until the first boss, I depleted his life bar completely yet he WOULD NOT DIE!! why? Do I need to finish him off in some special way? also the fact that you HAVE to hit him in the face or else he'll likely hit you before you can move away is very frustrating. oh yeah, the dive attack was annoyingly cheap because if you had just got done missing a shot then you had no way of avoiding it, so...that added a few obscenities to be spat at my computer. But my big point is that the boss is seemingly immortal, unless he's got a secret hidden life bar i don't know about

328 SON!

great game! awesome artstyle, good music, and pretty decent gameplay! however changing the song between stages would have been nice, also it got repetitive especially after you bought everything there was to buy , but whatever, good game none the less

was boring at first, but got pretty fun when the difficulty shot up ( and it shot up in a hurry btw) for future games i would recommend 1) make your own soundfx instead of finding them online, its actually quite easy to make laser sounds. 2) smoother difficulty curb, tho i liked it better when it was difficult, it really went from boring to insane way too fast. (3 spacebar would have worked infinitely better for a fire button, so my right hand wasn't trying to tap one button while holding another. but honestly not bad by any means throw in a decent soundtrack and you'll be set.

cool game! i love the scaling corridor! and the way that everything tilts as you turn, it really gives a nice aesthetic and feel, however, there didn't seem to be much in the way of a goal except to make the time so you can unlock the next level. also, simply weaving through a bunch of other guys on motorcycles sort of gets old, you should be able to blow up guys in front of you for extra points, something like that would have easily pushed this up to 3.5 at least.
